IAS Computing: Sponsored Accounts
All active IAS scholars and staff have the ability to sponsor network access for their family or associates who might need access to authenticated campus IT services.
Creating A Sponsored Account
- Log in to UpdateMe
- Locate the Sponsored Accounts tile, and click Register Accounts
- On the Sponsored Accounts page, click Add an Account
- On the Add a Sponsored Account page, please provide the following information for the person you are sponsoring:
- A valid email address
- Last Name
- First Name
- Their relationship to you
- Click the Add button
- To complete the account setup, an email is sent to the "sponsoree" at the address provided in Step 4
You can repeat this process to create additional sponsored accounts.
What Sponsored Accounts Provide
Sponsored Accounts provide access to the following services:
- Eduroam wireless network
- Authenticated sections of the IAS.edu website
- IAS Library resources
- OpenVPN
- Appointment scheduling via Appointments Plus (*)
- Zoom
- Ability to register additional devices on the IAS member housing network (e.g. game consoles, audio speakers, etc.)
When logging in, please make sure to use **username**@ias.edu as your login username.
Please note that sponsored accounts do not come with email.
All sponsored account access will expire when the sponsor's access expires.
(*) If you wish to receive confirmation emails from Appointments Plus, enter an email address under Account Settings while logged in to Appointments Plus.
Does the sponsored person want to receive IAS-related email announcements?
If the person you are sponsoring wishes to receive communications sent to the IAS community, please email Joshua Horowitz at campus-life@ias.edu to request their addition to the IAS Partners mailing list. Be sure to include the person's name and email address in your request.
