On March 13, the Institute celebrated the publication of
The Usefulness of
Useless Knowledge (Princeton University Press), which
features IAS Founding Director Abraham
Flexner's classic essay of the same title, first published in
Harper's magazine...

On November 14, the Institute for Advanced Study announced
the appointment of Robbert Dijkgraaf as its ninth Director,
succeeding, as of July 1, 2012, Peter Goddard, who has served as
Director since January 2004.
