From the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography:

In 1951, [Ernest Llewellyn] Woodward left [Oxford] for the United States, for a research professorship at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. [...] In his later years, Woodward produced a number of books, including his Great Britain and the War of 1914–1918 (1967), but his main project (apart from editing the Documents on British Foreign Policy series) was to write a multi-volume work, British Foreign Policy in the Second World War, based on unpublished documents in the Foreign and Cabinet offices.
