I am writing a book about a Sanskrit author of the seventeenth century called NÄ«lakaṇá¹ha Caturdhara, who is best remembered for his commentary on the Sanskrit epic, the MahÄ?bhÄ?rata. The intellectual energies distinctive to India's early modern period are captured in NÄ«lakaṇá¹ha's idiosyncratic works and career in Banaras.
