Broadly interested in Southeast Asia’s politics, societies, and environments, Christian is currently exploring the making of Vietnamese territory through contests over agrarian land and labor resources. His next project compares postcolonial Vietnam and Indonesia by examining divergent Cold War trajectories and convergent experiences with mass violence.
