Munkh-Erdene Lhamsuren is studying the interweaving effects of
“scientific” knowledge and state power upon the construction of collective identity. In particular, he is examining how a Russo-Soviet ethnically framed vision of Mongolia and the Mongolian state’s Soviet-imposed and -inspired nationality policy transformed modern Mongolia into a multiethnic polity.
