Sherine Hamdy’s current project treats sensational media reports about strange medical cases and new forms of bodily intervention in contemporary Egypt as moments that can shed light on dramatic transformations in Egypt’s sociopolitical landscape. She is particularly inter­ested in shifting gender norms and everyday ethical dilemmas that emerge in overlooked and marginalized segments of Egyptian society.
