Amol Aggarwal Awarded Rollo Davidson Prize and Dubrovin Medal
Current Visiting Professor Amol Aggarwal has received two prestigious prizes in mathematics: the 2022 Rollo Davidson Prize, for fundamental contributions to random matrix theory and integrable probability; and the 2022 Dubrovin Medal, for contributions to integrable probability, random matrix theory, and moduli spaces.
At the Institute, Aggarwal's research focuses on the interplay between probability theory, combinatorics, and mathematical physics. Recently, he’s been interested in equilibrium statistical mechanics, stochastic growth models, algebraic combinatorics and integrability, and large genus asymptotic analysis of surfaces.
Aggarwal was jointly awarded the Rollo Davidson Prize with Konstantin Tikhomirov, Assistant Professor, Georgia Institute of Technology. The Rollo Davidson Trust has awarded the annual prize since 1975 to young probabilists, in memory of accomplished mathematician Rollo Davidson (1944–70).
The Boris Dubrovin Medal, named after Boris Anatolievich Dubrovin, is awarded every two years by Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA). Aggarwal joins Georg Oberdieck, University of Bonn, and Pavlo Gavrylenko, Higher School of Economics, as a recipient of the 2022 award. The prize recognizes promising young scholars who have made exceptional contributions to the fields of mathematical physics and geometry.
The Dubrovin Award Ceremony took place on May 25, 2022.
