Past Visitor (2015–21) Karina Urbach’s book Alice’s Book: How the Nazis Stole My Grandmother’s Cookbook, originally published in German to wide acclaim, has been published in English, with a translation by Jamie Bulloch. It will be available on May 12, 2022.
The book follows Urbach as she seeks to clarify the truth about her grandmother’s stolen cookbook, which had been “Aryanized” and republished by the Nazi regime. In doing so, she reveals the way in which people profited off the persecution of Jews even after the Holocaust had ended, and tells the story of a woman who survived and fought for restitution.
