James D. Wolfensohn Professor Didier Fassin and past Distinguished Visiting Professor Axel Honneth (2018–19) are the editors of Crisis Under Critique: How People Assess, Transform, and Respond to Critical Situations. The book presents a new perspective on the notion of crisis, examining “how people experience, interpret, and contribute to the making of and the response to critical situations.”
Written by past Members in the School of Social Science from the 2018–19 academic year, the collection of essays span five continents and various disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, and economics.
Professor Emeritus Michael Walzer and the editors Fassin and Honneth also contributed their own essays: Fassin, writing on conspiracy theories; Walzer, on social movements; and Honneth, a piece titled “The Invisible Rebellion: Working People Under the New Capitalist Economy.”
