Publication trends in Astrophysics - before and during COVID

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the personal and professional lives
of people worldwide. In my talk, I am going to present results from a
recent study, in which my colleague Jia Liu and I have analyzed its
impact on the astronomy community using public publications records. Our
analysis suggests that COVID-19 has had both positive and negative
impacts on research in astronomy. While there is an indication of an
overall increase in productivity during the last two years, this
increase is not equally shared by men and women. The data also points
toward additional barriers for young researchers to enter the field or
complete their first project.
