Frequently Asked Questions about the Teacher Leadership Program
No. Teacher Leadership Program participants must attend the full three weeks, arriving on Sunday, July 5, and departing on Saturday, July 25.
The TLP is a professional development program best-suited for school teachers who specialize in mathematics for grades 3–12. Elementary teachers/coaches may apply but should be aware of the emphasis on mathematics in the program. Applicants to the TLP must spend at least 50% of their time as classroom teachers. Priority is given to applicants with at least three years of classroom teaching experience.
If a teacher is accepted to attend the TLP there is a $750 registration fee that includes all conference materials and group meals (14 lunches, 5 dinners). Teachers are encouraged to seek sponsorship for their TLP registration fee from their school, parent-teacher association, or other organization /community group. There is a scholarship fund available to teachers accepted to the TLP who are unable to secure local sponsorship and for whom payment of the registration fee is a hardship.
Teachers who are accepted to the Teacher Leadership Program receive the following benefits/support from PCMI: shared lodging for the duration of the program (20 nights), travel allowance up to $600 for airfare booked through the PCMI travel agent or toward mileage if you drive your own car to PCMI; $205 meal allowance for meals not provided by PCMI. TLP participants who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents receive a $500 stipend for full participation in the TLP.
PCMI lodging is reserved in several Park City properties that are nearby to the Prospector Conference Center where PCMI takes place. Standard lodging for the Teacher Leadership Program is double or triple occupancy with other same gender participant/s from the TLP in a unit with kitchen facilities.
PCMI provides lunch on weekdays and several casual suppers on weeknights TBD.
No. The Teacher Leadership Program is in session only on weekdays. The TLP is not in session on Saturday-July 10, Sunday-July 11, Saturday-July 18, and Sunday-July 19.
Yes, if you need larger accommodations you can pay a fee to reserve a larger lodging unit, based on availability.
