Former Member Receives Award and Fellowship from Australian Government
Ann McGrath, Member (2013–14) in the School of Social Science, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). McGrath was recognized for significant service to the social sciences as an academic and researcher in the field of Indigenous history, and to tertiary education.
McGrath has also recently earned the Kathleen Fitzpatrick Australian Laureate Fellowship from the Australian Research Council (ARC). Recipients of the Kathleen Fitzpatrick Fellowship undertake an ambassadorial role to promote women in research and to mentor early career researchers, particularly women, to encourage them to enter and establish careers in research in Australia. McGrath will use the award, which provides 5 years funding to execute a major research project, to conduct research in rediscovering the deep human past by analyzing Australia's epic Indigenous narratives alongside relevant new scientific evidence in order to develop future-oriented transdisciplinary techniques for researching the deep human past.
