Former Member Wins National Medal of Science for Unraveling Ecological Complexity

Simon Levin, Member (1999, 2008–09) in both the School of Social Science and Natural Sciences and Princeton University's George M. Moffett Professor of Biology, received a National Medal of Science, the nation's highest scientific honor. Levin focuses his research on complexity, particularly how large-scale patterns—such as at the ecosystem level are maintained by small-scale behavioral and evolutionary factors at the level of individual organisms. The National Medal of Science was established by Congress in 1959 and is administered by the National Science Foundation.
