New Opportunities with Future CMB Observations
Upcoming surveys will map the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization with unprecedented precision. These observations will allow for huge strides forward toward well established scientific targets and will create possibilities for qualitatively new methods to access cosmological information with applications for the early universe, fundamental physics, and astrophysics. I will discuss some of the main scientific targets and highlight some novel techniques that will be made possible with the increased precision future observations will provide. I will give particular attention to measuring transverse velocities with the moving lens effect and improving cosmological constraints through observations of frequency-dependent Rayleigh scattering effects.
