Jennifer Chayes is Distinguished Scientist, Managing Director, and Cofounder of Microsoft Research New England and Microsoft Research NYC. Before joining Microsoft, Chayes was Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has written over 130 academic papers and holds over 30 patents. Her research includes phase transitions in discrete math and computer science, structural, and dynamical properties of networks, graph theory, graph algorithms, algorithmic game theory, and computational biology. Chayes is an inventor of graph limits, which are widely used for machine learning of massive networks.
