Maribel Fierro Receives Middle East Medievalists Lifetime Achievement Award
Maribel Fierro, Member (1994–95) and Visitor (2015) in the School of Historical Studies, has been recognized with the Middle East Medievalists Lifetime Achievement Award.
Conferred annually, the award recognizes scholars who have served the field of medieval Middle Eastern studies with distinction. Previous honorees include the late Patricia Crone, Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the School of Historical Studies.
Fierro is recognized for her "rigorous scholarship, numerous publications, [and] admirable service to the profession, as well as her dedication to teaching and advising students across a variety of disciplines."
The honor will be presented at the annual meeting of the Middle East Medievalists on November 14, 2019, as part of the annual meeting of the Middle East Studies Association in New Orleans.
