Prime Minister Lee Welcomes Institute Director Dijkgraaf During Visit to Singapore

Institute Director Robbert Dijkgraaf was honored to join Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for a meeting and dinner during a trip to Singapore following Dijkgraaf’s lecture at Nanyang Technological University, Institute of Advanced Studies as part of the “Richard Feynman at 100” centennial conference.

During his lecture, Dijkgraaf discussed ongoing efforts to combine the worlds of quantum mechanics and gravity. Using Feynman’s views as a starting point, he explained how Feynman diagrams demonstrate a link between the worlds of science and art. Similarly, science remains an international language that unites populations around the globe.

The theme of unity was apparent during the dinner, which marks an important occasion to bring the IAS message of basic research to a global audience. The Institute is proud to carry on its mission to pursue fundamental knowledge with its partners around the world.
