School of Social Science Member Shatema Threadcraft Awarded Book Prizes
Shatema Threadcraft, Member in the School of Social Science, has been awarded many prizes for her book, Intimate Justice: The Black Female Body and the Body Politic (Oxford University Press 2016), which challenges prevailing understandings of justice and equality in political theory. Threadcraft received the 2017 Race and Political Theory Best Book Award from the American Political Science Association; the 2017 Sarah A. Whaley Book Prize from the National Women's Studies Association; and the National Conference of Black Political Scientists’s 2017 W. E. B. Du Bois Distinguished Book Award. In addition, Intimate Justice was the 2017 Featured Book at the Western Political Science Association's Feminist Theory Pre-Conference.
