Siobhan Roberts Receives JPBM Communications Award

Siobhan Roberts, current Director's Visitor, will receive the 2017 JPBM Communications Award for Expository and Popular Books. The Joint Policy Board for Mathematics (JPBM) represents the American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Presented annually, the JPBM Communications Award recognizes outstanding achievement in communicating about mathematics to non-mathematicians.

The JPBM recognizes Roberts for her books King of Infinite Space—Donald Coxeter, The Man Who Saved Geometry (Walker and Company, 2006) and Genius at Play—The Curious Mind of John Horton Conway (Bloomsbury, 2015), her contributions to The New Yorker's "Elements," Nautilus, and Quanta, and the documentary The Man Who Saved Geometry, which she wrote and produced for TVOntario's "The View from Here."
