On April 4, 2019, Stephen Kotkin, John P. Birkelund '52 Professor in History and International Affairs at Princeton University, gave a public lecture on "Stalin at War."
Jonathan Haslam, George F. Kennan Professor in the School of Historical Studies, introduced Kotkin, who fielded questions from the audience at the end of the talk.
Stephen Kotkin is the author of Stalin: Paradoxes of Power, 1878–1928 (Penguin, 2014) and Stalin: Waiting for Hitler, 1929–1941 (Penguin, 2017), parts one and two of a projected three-volume biography of the Soviet leader.
