Didier Fassin, James D. Wolfensohn Professor in the School of Social Science, has authored Punir: Une Passion Contemporaine (Seuil, 2017), an exploration of punishment from a genealogical and ethnographic perspective. In this book, Fassin engages with questions about what, why, and who we punish, drawing upon moral philosophy and legal theory.
