Public Friends Talk with David Lang
Artist-in-Residence David Lang will discuss the series of concerts he has curated for the Institute. Called “The Patternmakers,” this series is organized not around styles of music or periods of music history, but around a fundamental way that music gets made; namely, how different composers and musical cultures have used patterns to build giant structures out of small musical building blocks, and how the choice of patterns tells us something about the music makers themselves.
