2022 Albert Einstein Memorial Lecture Series

The Development of Asymmetric Organocatalysis and Metallaphotoredox

Chamber

The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber and the Institute for Advanced Study are pleased to announce the 2022 Albert Einstein Memorial Lecture Series. The annual event is the only Nobel Laureate speaker series of its kind presented by a Chamber of Commerce. This high profile event allows us to memorialize one of the best-known residents of Princeton and to commemorate his contributions to science and scholarship.

This year we are pleased to announce our speaker is Professor David W.C. MacMillan, Princeton University awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis. Professor MacMillan’s presentation entitled The Development of Asymmetric Organocatalysis and Metallaphotoredox will highlight why organic catalysts have become widely explored in modern synthetic chemistry.  Professor MacMillan will describe why a healthy balance of reaction discovery and mechanistic understanding has been important to the development of a field of research that is now being widely adopted in both industrial and academic settings.

Past Nobel Laureate speakers have included:  Daniel Kahneman, Ph.D., 2002 Nobel Prize in Economics; Frank Wilczek, Ph.D., 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics; Eric Wieschaus, Ph.D., 1995 Nobel Prize in Medicine; Richard Axel, M.D., 2004 Nobel Prize in Medicine/Physiology, Professor James Peebles 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics and Professor May-Britt Moser 2014 Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine.
