Microstates of Black Holes in AdS
Abstract: A black hole, when observed from outside, can be represented as a quantum system of microstates. For AdS black holes, the microstates are dual to operators in the boundary CFT by the AdS/CFT correspondence. In this talk, I will discuss the problem of counting and constructing these operators in the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory (SYM). I will review the counting of BPS operators by the superconformal index, which matches nicely with the bulk BPS black hole entropy. I will also discuss the construction of BPS operators as cohomology classes of a supercharge Q.
