Energy Correlators in QFT, Particle Physics and Gravity

Abstract: Correlation functions of the average null energy operator provide direct theoretical models of collider experiments, and have played a crucial role in contemporary developments in formal QFT and gravity. Recently it has become possible to directly measure these observables at colliders, leading to record precision extractions of the strong coupling constant from the scaling properties of detectors operators,  and new ways to characterize the quark gluon plasma with higher twist detector operators, amongst numerous other applications. We will discuss recent advances in our theoretical understanding of these detector correlators, and highlight experimental progress in their study. We will also discuss explorations of these observables in perturbative gravity.
