IAS High Energy Theory Seminar
When Light Strings Don't Look Like Particles
The Institute for Advanced Study requires that all adult visitors, collaborators, conference and on-campus seminar attendees and outside vendors coming to the Institute are required to have completed a COVID-19 vaccination and booster in order to enter the IAS campus. Abstract: In certain time-dependent backgrounds there are nonstandard light strings that are created classically at an instant and cannot be approximated by particles. We discuss the implications of these strings to black holes and cosmology.
