How to configure the Institute's Address Book to work with your email client
Some email clients allow you to add an LDAP address book so that you can search or browse through the directory. The basic configuration settings for adding the Institute's LDAP address book to your email client are below.
Name: IAS Address Book or whatever you would like to call it
Hostname: addressbook.ias.edu
Base DN: o=ias
Port number: 389
How to configure Thunderbird to use the Institute's LDAP Address Book:
- Launch Thunderbird.
- Navigate the the Thunderbird Preferences or Options depending on your operating sytem (e.g. Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows).
- Click on Composition.
- Click on Edit Directories.
- Click on Add.
- Fill in the fields specified below:
Name: IAS LDAP
Hostname: addressbook.ias.edu
Base DN: o=ias
Port number: 389
- What you entered will now appear under "LDAP Directory Servers". You can know use the Institute's address book.
- To use the Institute's LDAP Address Book, just start typing the recepient's name and Thunderbird will provide you with any matches. Just select the address you want.
