IAS CMP/QFT Group Meeting

Abstract: In this talk we will describe categorical symmetries of spin chains from the viewpoint of subalgebras of the quasi-local algebra of observables in the infinite volume limit. In particular, we provide formal axioms for a subalgebra to give rise to a SymTFT decomposition, and show that the fusion category of symmetries can then be recovered as a category of bimodules of the original quasi-local algebra, whose fusion ring acts by quantum channels.
