IAS Quantum Aspects of Black Holes Group Meeting

Comments on the Double Cone Wormhole

Abstract: I will discuss a paper I wrote with Juan and Yiming Chen (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2310.11617.pdf). I will briefly motivate the discussion by explaining how the double cone wormhole was proposed in the context of spectral form factors (first argued in https://arxiv.org/pdf/1806.06840.pdf), and its connection to quasinormal modes (mentioned first in https://arxiv.org/pdf/2212.08668.pdf). Then, I will discuss our work in trying to understand the "modified" boost generator of this wormhole as a non-Hermitian Hilbert space operator, as well as its connection to hydrodynamics and other works. To illustrate the general idea I will also discuss a quantum mechanics toy model with similar features.
