IAS High Energy Theory Seminar
Estimating Global Charge Violating Amplitudes from Wormholes
The Institute for Advanced Study requires that all adult visitors, collaborators, conference and on-campus seminar attendees and outside vendors coming to the Institute are required to have completed a COVID-19 vaccination and booster in order to enter the IAS campus. Individuals must be prepared to present proof of vaccination if asked and are expected to follow the Institute's Covid-19 Procedures. Masks are optional while indoors.

Abstract: Global symmetries are expected to be violated in quantum gravity. The violation can be captured by nonzero scattering amplitudes with different initial and final global charges. In this talk, I will discuss such processes involving the scattering of high energy spherical shells in AdS spacetime. The focus will be to describe an explicit wormhole solution which computes the typical size of the amplitude. This talk will be based on arXiv:2212.08668.
