The Black Hole / Qubit Correspondence

We present the evidence for an emerging mathematical correspondence between black holes and qubits. We first introduce the relevant parts of quantum information theory and entanglement theory. We then show how the entropy and classification of black holes in D=4, N=2 supergravity coupled to three vector multiplets (the STU model) is mirrored by the entanglement and classification of three qubits. Following this, we show how to generalize these results using a time-like compactification and the Kostant-Sekiguchi correspondence for nilpotent orbits to directly map the classification of extremal black holes to the entanglement classification of four qubits. Time permitting, we speculate on what might be going on and some of the applications of this correspondence.
