Motivated by some recent progress in the study of concentration phenomena for singularly perturbed elliptic nonlinear equations and the analogies with some problems in geometric analysis, we prove existence of new entire solutions of the focusing NLS, with non trivial asymptotic profile. We also discuss some relation with the Allen-Cahn equation.
