How to connect to your IAS home directory via FileZilla
FileZilla Client is a free, open source SFTP client that you would install on your own personal desktop or laptop computer. With FileZilla, you work on your files on your local computer and then use this application to upload your files to your IAS home directory. You can also use this application to download files from your IAS home directory to your local computer. By using FileZilla to store your data in your IAS home directory, you are ensuring that your data is being backed up on a regular basis. FileZilla is available under many different operating systems.
- Launch the FileZilla.
- Enter the following information:
Host: sftp://ssh.math.ias.edu
Username: Enter your IAS username here. This is the part of your IAS email address that appears before the @ sign. For example, if your email address is jdoe@ias.edu, your username is jdoe.
Password: Enter your IAS password here.
Port: Enter 22
- Click on the Quickconnect button to initiate your connection.
- Once connected, files and folders from your local computer appear on the left side of the screen. The files and folders from your IAS home directory appears on the right side of the screen.
- Right click on the files or folders that you want to upload or download. Your upload or download progress will appear at the bottom of the FileZilla window.
