How to Configure Mozilla Thunderbird to access IAS Email
To configure Mozilla Thunderbird to connect to your IAS Email:
- Launch Thunderbird.
- If you have never used Thunderbird before, the Account Wizard should start on it's own. To open it manually, go to the Tools menu, choose Accounts Actions, and click Add Mail Account.
- Enter the following on the Mail Account Setup window:
- Your name: enter your full name.
- Email address: enter your IAS email address.
- Password: enter your IAS password.
- Click on the Continue button.
- Click on the Manual config button.
- Enter the following and then click the Re-test button.
- Incoming: IMAP
- Incoming Server hostname: mail.ias.edu
- Outgoing Server hostname: smtpauth.ias.edu
- Username: enter your IAS username@ias.edu (e.g., jdoe@ias.edu)
- SSL: For incoming server
- Outgoing Port: 587 and Connection security: STARTTLS
- Click on the Re-test button.
- If errors were detected, correct the errors and then click on the Re-test button again. If no errors were detected, click on the Create Account button.
- Click on the OK button.
- Click on the Get Mail button to retrieve your email messages.
- Right-click on the account in the left window pane that you just created. Click on the Subscribe button.
- Select all of the mailbox folders that you would like to subscribe to.
- Click on the OK button.
