Statement: Hilde De Weerdt is working on a history of the vernacularization of political advice in Eastern Eurasia. This work consists of a history of the emergence of medieval Chinese mirrors to princes and their adaptation in the worlds of Japanese samurai, Mongol and Manchu emperors, and Chinese literati.
