Warped Throats Get Excited: Green's Functions and Normal Modes

Generalized deformed conifolds (Stenzel spaces) are Ricci flat (2d-2)-dimensional manifolds embedded in C^d through the equation \sum_{i = 1}^d z_i^2 = \epsilon^2. In this talk, I will describe how to use the O(d) isometry of these spaces to find the Green's function and the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian. Physically, the Green's function can be used to add localized D3- or M2-branes to the warped deformed conifold backgrounds of type IIB and M-theory. The eigenfunctions of the Laplacian correspond to glueball states in the field theories dual to these backgrounds. The talk will be mostly based on arXiv:1009.2763.
