Quantum Computation vs. Firewalls
Almheiri, Marolf, Polchinski, and Sully have claimed that
unitarity of black hole evaporation is inconsistent with the existence
of a smooth horizon. I will argue that computational restrictions
prevent the type of thought-experiment which motivates their argument
from being done, and I will speculate about what type of theory could
make use of this loophole to avoid their conclusion without
introducing new inconsistencies.
