High Energy Theory Seminar

A new era of particle physics has begun this year with the long anticipated first high energy proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on March 30th this year. The ATLAS experiment is one of the two large-scale experiments that analyzes these collisions in view of revealing the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking, the dark matter in the Universe and/or possibly yet unknown and unexpected aspects of Nature's fundamental particles and interactions. In this talk I will discuss the status of the ATLAS experiment, demonstrate the excellent performance that has already been achieved and present the first physics measurements.
